Whaley House Printer FriendlyAddress: 4005 Taylor Street San Diego (Google Maps View) Directions: Go to the Trolley Stop: Old Town Transit Center 4005 Taylor Street San Diego, California Rating: The infamous Whaley House has unofficially been given the title "The Most Haunted House in America", and with good reason. From the street, you can see a shadowy figure peering out of the window. The smell of cigar smoke and lavender perfume still pops up spontaneously. Walking through the archway to the parlor room[closed off to the public] causes a slow choking sensation similar to being put in a noose. That spot is believed to be where the gallows stood and where Yankee Jim took 1 hour to die after being hanged. Miss Whaley can be seen on the stairs. In the courtyard, there is a little girl named Haily who enjoys holding older lady's hands. There is also reported to be a ghost of a dog running around there. However, the popular story of the girl crushing her neck on a clothesline is untrue. It is impossible for a girl to crush her neck on a clothesline because clotheslines are always set up pretty high, and no kid is that tall. Author: PJ Ortiz Luis
